Artists collaborate to honor Bowie in an NFT sale

OpenSea will be taking the sale of the Bowie On The Blockchain project live on 13 September in partnership with We Love The Arts and The David Bowie Estate with a commitment that 100% of the proceeds will go to the CARE charity.

The Bowie On The Blockchain project brings together nine NFT artists who will pay tribute to the legend with their unique NFT creation set to launch in September. Iman serves as the humanitarian organization’s first-ever global spokesperson.

The goal is to keep up with the legacy David Bowie left to the world. It took off from the point where David Bowie announced the BowieArt Project to champion the artwork of artists on his dedicated website.

Nine NFT artists coming together for the Bowie On The Blockchain project are as follows:

• Glam Beckett
• Lirona
• Jonathan Wolfe
• Osinachi
• Nadya Tolokonnikova from PussyRiot
• Young and sick

The Bowie On The Blockchain project has been called a unique NFT project as it features nine artists putting multiple NFT collections up for sale, with 100% of proceeds given to charity.

Ryan Foutty, vice president of business development at OpenSea, called David Bowie an icon to express the honor on behalf of the entire team in bringing his legacy into Web3. Ryan Foutty called the NFT gathering incredible and added that it collects the most groundbreaking NFT artists with Bowie artefacts to bring a new generation of fans together in Web3.

It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get involved with the Bowie Estate, said Andrew Keller, co-founder of We Love The Arts. Mentioning that David Bowie had a profound impact on his life, Andrew Keller added that he hoped the collection would serve to capture the ethos of Bowie On The Blockchain while spotlighting all the artists.

David Bowie, born January 8, 1947, died January 10, 2016. His last album was released on January 8, 2016, which marked his 69th birthday. The release topped the charts in more than 20 countries, and won five Grammy Awards.

He is known for redefining music and live performances for the generation of music lovers. Some of his timeless album includes:-

OpenSea is an NFT marketplace known for its flexibility in minting, buying and selling non-fungible tokens. The team is led by experts from Uber, Google, Berkeley, Stanford and Palantir, with investment backing from Paradigm, YCombinator and Coinbase Ventures, to name a few.

CARE was founded in 1945 to fight poverty around the world. The humanitarian organization mainly focuses on working alongside girls and women, citing that they can uplift society provided they have all the necessary tools to do so.
