Wormhole Bridges the Gap for Aptos Network’s NFT Transfer to Other Chains

Wormhole has launched the Aptos NFT bridge, which enables users to bridge NFTs between multiple chains via Wormhole’s Portal bridge. Transferred NFTs are locked in the NFT bridge contract, and wrapped equivalents are created on the destination chain.

Wormhole has launched the Aptos NFT bridge, which allows NFT transfers between the Aptos Network and other chains without double wrapping.

Users can bridge NFTs from Arbitrum, Aurora, Avalanche, BSC, Celo, Ethereum, Fantom, Karura, Klaytn, Moonbeam, Oasis, Optimsm, Polygon and Solana to Aptos and vice versa via Wormholes Portal bridge.

“With the Aptos NFT bridge, Wormhole brings a new level of interoperability to the network. Aptos welcomes millions of assets, thousands of creators and artists from the many chains accessible through this bridge,” said Mo Shaikh, co-founder and CEO of Aptos Labs.

An NFT transferred from the chain of origin is unlocked in the NFT bridge’s smart contract. After that, a corresponding wrapped NFT is stamped on the destination chain.

The wrapped NFTs have the same name, appearance and behavior as the original NFTs. Wrapped NFTs on EVM chains are ERC721 tokens, on Solana they are SPL tokens with Metaplex metadata, and on Aptos they act as the Aptos Token standard.

As reported, it is also possible to send NFTs back to the original chain to unlock the original NFT. For example, an NFT originating from Aptos can be linked to Ethereum, sold on Opensea and then transferred back to Aptos.
