The NFT culture is no stranger to a light-hearted sting. The cryptocurrency is based on individual digital ownership, such as that of a rare painting or a unique trading card. The confusion surrounding real ownership of a digital image versus just downloading or screenshots it provides fertile ground for a joke, something MCU’s social media has previously exploited. When promoting the Blue-ray release of Spider-Man: No Way HomeThe social media team tweeted an NFT-targeted gif of a confused Peter Parker with the caption “When someone starts talking NFTs.”

According to Thor actor Chris Hemsworth, Love and thunder is a step up for the director when it comes to nonsense. “It was Taika at its craziest,” he shared when asked about Waititi’s filmmaking process.
