Launched on July 14, 2022, Kingship is a 5,000-piece NFT key card collection linked to Bored Ape music group with the same name. Said to unlock the realm of royalty, each NFT in the collection grants holders access to music, exclusive content, utility, community and token-gated experiences over time.

With Kingship being one of the most robust uses for Bored Ape Yacht Club IP monetization in the music industry, this latest collection from the supergroup — consisting of three rare Bored Apes and a rare Mutant Ape— shows yet another avenue of utility. Specifically, it demonstrates how BAYC NFTs (and similarly licensed NFTs) can travel through the metaverse and build community through exclusive offerings, creating new opportunities for the bottom line.

Crypto citizens, launched in June 2021, is an ongoing generative portrait collection of 10,000 NFTs powered by Art Blocks. Popping up in cities around the world, the project combines pixel art with location-based NFT performance to create not just a PFP collection, but the slowly growing Bright Moments DAO.

Slated for completion by the end of 2023, the CryptoCitizens series will have made its way through 10 different cities worldwide. As an NFT collection and a growing community-owned and led project, CryptoCitizens provides an interesting use case for the startup of a DAO through member-based NFTs.

Launched on June 16, 2022, Drip Drop is a batch of 1111 1/1 NFTs from renowned photographer and crypto artist Dave Krugman. A cohesive collection of photographic NFTs, Drip Drop is said to be a tribute to generative art from projects like Art Blocks.

Krugman took inspiration from works such as Chromie Squiggles, Fidenzas and Ringers and teamed up with Transient Labs for his unique generative activity. Said by Krugman to be “a study in the generative beauty of the universe, seen through the lens of rain hitting puddles in Times Square”, Drip Drop is a testament to new NFT drop mechanics and the slow burn/growth of a multi-collective ecosystem from a independent creator.

CryptoDickbutts, launched in March 2021, is possibly one of the most notorious meme-based collections in all of NFTs. Born out of a character created for a web series by KC Green, “Dick Butt” has come to dominate the humor-based PFP market, outshining similar comedic projects for over a year.

Based on pixel art characters modeled after penises and bums, the project has achieved a surprising amount of staying power in the ever-changing NFT market. Although the NFTs in the Dickbutt Collection offer little utility to their holders, the collection lives on as an example of the NFT community’s collective sense of humor, and the ever-growing profitable market for meme collections.
