Polygon and Wakweli join forces to ensure NFT authenticity

Wakweli, a decentralized NFT certification protocol, has announced a partnership with Polygon Labs to ensure the authenticity of NFTs on the Polygon blockchain. The collaboration means that each NFT project holder in the Polygon chain can request certificates of authenticity for their digital assets using Wakweli’s certification system. Furthermore, advanced use-case scenarios will also be available to developers via the Wakweli platform and API.

Wakweli’s community-driven protocol encourages users to review certificate requests using a unique consensus method called Proof-of-Democracy (PoD). All certified assets carry a green tick symbol that automatically appears next to the assets when they appear on marketplaces, giving users confidence that the item is genuine.

The partnership between Wakweli and Polygon comes as Polygon has established itself as the go-to chain for asset mining since 2021 when ETH fees skyrocketed. Polygon has performed extremely well since then and is now home to incredible NFT projects.

Antoine Sarraute, co-founder of Wakweli, expressed his excitement about the partnership with Polygon, stating that it would enable Wakweli’s certification power for all Polygon users and unlock a definitive way to combat fraud attempts, creating more trust in this thriving ecosystem.

Before securing the partnership with Polygon, Wakweli secured $1.1 million in funding after bringing in a number of early backers, including VCs and angel investors.

Wakweli’s certification system is critical to combating fraud in the growing web3 ecosystem, and the partnership with Polygon will undoubtedly strengthen the security of the digital ecosystem. Polygon Labs is developing Ethereum scaling solutions for Polygon protocols, and the collaboration is a significant step towards making available scalable, affordable, secure and sustainable blockchain infrastructure for Web3.

The existing Polygon network is home to some of the biggest Web3 projects, such as Aave, Uniswap and OpenSea, as well as well-known companies including Robinhood, Stripe and Adobe. Furthermore, Polygon Labs is carbon neutral with the goal of leading Web3 in becoming carbon negative.
