CHICAGO, 19 April 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — One hundred media, business and financial dignitaries, as well as influential Latin American leaders, came to hear how a trio of Chicago-based entrepreneurs Olga Camargo, Juan Carlos Avilaand Patricia Mota significantly helps Latinos grow their wealth and expand their financial knowledge through the SHENIX® app.

The creators recently held a successful launch this month to celebrate and promote their fintech web-based app that provides financial education, career planning and salary negotiation resources through a unique digital experience that prioritizes Latina culture. The company’s mission is to address the issue of the Latina wage gap and support Latinas in closing the wealth gap.

Organizations and publications address the issue of this pay gap. According to AAUW.org, Latinas is Equal Pay Day October 5 this year and cites a statistical saying that “Latina women who work full-time, year-round, are paid 57 cents and all income (including part-time and seasonal) is paid 54 cents for every dollar paid to non-Hispanic white men.”

An article from Changing America, an excerpt from the political publication The Hill, cited findings from the nonprofit human rights and civil rights organization Justice for Migrant Woman. An example shows that “the average white, non-Hispanic man in the United States who works full-time and part-time earns about $50,624 a year, according to an analysis of US Census Bureau data by Justice for Migrant Women. Meanwhile, the average amount a Latina earns in a year is just $25,312according to the analysis.”

At the event, guests listened as Camargo and Avila provided an overview of the app and two panels shared insightful discussions on salary negotiations, the Latina pay gap, Latinas finding their worth, investment and retirement goals.

“The event provided a better understanding of the career and financial education/resources available to Latinas through SHENIX®,” said Camargo. “It also created a new space that allowed Latina leaders to speak candidly about issues related to the wage/wealth gap, lack of financial education, and the systemic barriers that don’t allow them to have a real opportunity to create an economic legacy.”

Camargo and her team were pleased with the turnout and positive comments from guests.

“We had Latinas representing many industries which included those from the areas of structural architecture, fashion, insurance, financial services, corporate, executive, import and merchandise,” she said. “The Latinas who attended this event said it was unique because the information provided was not readily available elsewhere. They also felt that SHENIX® embraced Latinas’ cultural mindsets and gave them a sense of belonging and empowerment. Many noted that SHENIX ® could make a big difference for Latinos across the country.”

The event sponsors were the following: NBC 5 Chicago, Faro Advisory, Atzimba Catering and Events, Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Negocios Now and Enriquez Produce, Inc.
