$MATIC: Trump’s latest polygon-driven NFT collection goes on sale

A new wave of excitement hits the NFT world as former US President Donald Trump announces “Series 2” of his Trump Digital Trading Card collection.

The original “Trump Digital Trading Cards” NFT collection, which contains 45,000 unique images of former US President Donald Trump, launched in December 2022.

Trump talked about these NFTs during an interview on the One America News (OAN) show “Weekly Briefing With Chanel Rion.”

He said,

Well, I didn’t know anything about them, and then a group came along. And I loved the art. They showed me the art … it’s comic book art when you think about it, but they showed me the art, and I said I always wanted to have a 38-inch waist, but I look at these things, and I’m like, ‘that is a bit sweet, which might sell.’

They thought it would sell in six months; it sold in six hours. And that set a record, I understand. It has been incredible. You know, if you bought a card for $99, I’m guessing it’s much, much higher than that. And I heard the Wall Street Journal or somebody say it was the investment of the year.

I was criticized, really criticized, when it was announced… I didn’t see it as [an] investment…I thought they were cute. I mean, for $99, you get these visions that are very beautiful and interesting, I think. And I looked at it that way, much more than as an NFT, but the NFT was really hot two or three years ago, and then it cooled off…

So when they announced that it’s NFT, everyone was like, ‘what’s he doing that for? It’s so cold. And I did that, and I guess it was one of the most successful, maybe the most successful, but it was certainly in terms of speed. It all sold out almost immediately. Pretty amazing!

On April 18, Trump announced on his social networking platform, Truth Social, the launch of “Series 2” of his NFT collection.

Just like the first series, the new NFTs will be created on the Polygon blockchain and sold for the same price of $99. However, the second collection will contain 47,000 NFTs, an increase of 2,000 compared to the first series.

As noted on the “Collect Trump Cards” website, each Series 2 Trump Digital Trading Card will have a distinct preset rarity. Some cards will be unique, while others will be available in limited numbers. No Trump Digital Trading Card will exist in more than 10 copies.

In addition, a special promotion is currently in place: by purchasing 47 digital trading cards, buyers will receive a ticket to attend a dinner with the ex-president at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
