The Sandbox and Playground Studio’s Meloverse

Leading Metaverse Platform, The sandbox, has teamed up with Playground Studios to launch “Melover,” a virtual experience centered around 21-year-old NBA sensation, LaMelo Ball. Fans of the Charlotte Hornets point guard will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in his world like never before, hanging out and playing in a virtual environment designed to bring them closer to their favorite athlete.

LaMelo Ball has a huge influence on Gen Z and is considered a trendsetter, which is exactly why The Sandbox is counting on his popularity to attract young adults to the Web3 and Metaverse. According to Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox:

“LaMelo Ball is a transfigurative personality who strongly engages with fans through social media, and we can’t wait to see what kind of engagement he will be able to create with his community at The Sandbox.”

Anyone can participate in Meloverse missions

Meloverse’s first event is scheduled to take place from April 17th to May 1st and is open to anyone with a KYC’d Sandbox account. The event will showcase Melo’s Social Hub, which includes 19 unique missions, all tied to some of Melo’s favorite hobbies

By completing each mission, participants will automatically be awarded a piece of Meloverse memorabilia. These are not NFTs but badges that can be used on the profile and can be redeemed for other benefits in the future. To be considered a winner, players must complete all 19 missions and, if successful, will be eligible to receive a share of the 100,000 SAND prize pool (valued at $68,830 at press time).

A company statement from The Sandbox notes that this collaboration aims to create a playground for creators, collectors and fans worldwide. The experiences offered will not only focus on entertainment, but also education. The aim is to educate participants on how to utilize blockchain technology “safe and effective while having fun.”
