Prominent comparison site joins FinTech Wales

FinTech Wales has welcomed a prominent Cardiff-headquartered comparison website to its membership and advisory panel.

Go.Compare joins the membership association alongside a number of well-known financial services, including Admiral, Confused.com and Principality Building Society.

CEO and founder of Go.Compare Lee Griffin has also joined the advisory panel.

Founded in 2006, the site allows people to compare the costs and features of a range of insurance, financial products and energy tariffs.

Launched in April 2019, FinTech Wales aims to make Wales a leading pillar of the global FinTech community by nurturing and developing businesses already in the country and developing an ecosystem that will attract more businesses to the region.

Sarah Williams-Gardener, CEO of FinTech Wales, said: “The FinTech ecosystem is growing rapidly here in Wales; and we have a unique culture of support and collaboration that encourages a continuous flow of new and innovative ideas. And that’s thanks to in part to businesses like Go.Compare that have an entrepreneurial spirit at their core and have shown that entrepreneurs and business leaders don’t need to move to London to scale their businesses and find success.

“Go.Compare also shares our commitment to raise awareness of the abundant career opportunities available in FinTech for young people and re-trainers, and to create a constant pipeline of talent required to support our ecosystem. They will therefore support many of our initiatives. to create skills and build meaningful relationships between industry and academia, and have a real impact on the FinTech landscape in Wales and we are delighted to have them on board.”

Lee Griffin added: “We are delighted to join FinTech Wales and to work with them to establish a strong, unified voice for the hugely successful financial and technology services sector we have here in Wales.

It is fantastic to be able to come together and make a real difference to the future of FinTech in Wales. It’s been a long time coming and we can’t wait to get started.”
