Blockchain Skillsets for Europe, a new milestone for the industry and a big step towards smart government regulation

The European Union prioritises Innovation in its politics. In more detail, CHAISE is a 4-year transnational initiative led by the European Commission, set to formulate and deliver a European strategy to address skill mismatches and shortages in the Blockchain industry and deliver appropriate training, qualifications and mobility solutions, targeting sector realities and needs . The European blockchain sector is relatively strong, but competitiveness will soon depend on the availability of the workforce. Employers are facing a shortage of skilled professionals that is preventing the sector from unlocking its full potential. Therefore, the European Commission saw the need to develop measures to improve blockchain knowledge, to create the standards for a first “Blockchain specialist” occupational profile.

CHASE has established the following elements as the program’s goals:

Improve blockchain knowledge, improve professional skills and identify relevant gaps at EU level.
Establish a collaborative strategy to track changes in job requirements and predict future demand for blockchain expertise.
Create a modular VET program with a focus on learning outcomes for Europe and educational materials on blockchain.
Establish occupational standards for the blockchain industry workforce across the EU to overcome labor market fragmentation.
Set up standardized educational requirements for blockchain qualifications across the EU, create a sector requirement linked to the new blockchain-specific occupational profile.
Connecting job seekers and blockchain companies to promote professional mobility and increase the allure of the sector.
Organize a permanent collaboration network to systematically track changes in the workforce, measure skill requirements, as well as maintain the relevant European Blockchain Skills Strategy.
