Autonomy, an electric vehicle subscription company, has launched a digital, month-to-month auto insurance product in partnership with Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Autonomy aims to provide simple and affordable ways to access mobility, with a focus on electric vehicles.

The company was founded by Scott Painter and Georg Bauer, who leveraged their experience in car dealerships, car finance and car insurance disruptors to build the company.

Liberty Mutual is a global property and casualty insurance company. It recently acquired Malaysian insurer AmGeneral Insurance Berhad (AmGeneral), as part of a series of recent acquisitions.

Car insurance coverage is now available as part of Autonomy’s car subscription package which already includes tax, title, registration, routine maintenance and roadside assistance. Eligible subscribers will now receive Autonomy’s subscription with its fully integrated insurance offer.

Unlike most policies that are offered on a semi-annual or annual basis, Autonomy said its integrated insurance product is offered to subscribers on a flexible month-to-month basis.

The launch of Autonomy’s insurance offering follows its partnership with DigiSure to deliver built-in insurance for car subscriptions. The platform collaboration with DigiSure gave Autonomy the ability to digitally onboard, evaluate and qualify a subscriber for month-to-month automatic coverage.

Scott Painter, founder and CEO of Autonomy, said, “For the first time, consumers can pay for auto insurance on a monthly basis through an Autonomy subscription on their smartphone.

“Car subscriptions represent simplicity and flexibility, and insurance was the missing part of our all-in-one offer. Liberty Mutual has been a great partner in helping us market our new insurance product. Integrating car insurance into our month-to-month subscription package solves another consumer problem in the mobility experience and reinforces our core consumer values.”
