Yessports introduces NFT-based membership to over 30 million Esports fans

Quick take:

  • Yessports has unveiled an NFT-based membership plan for eSports fans.
  • The eSports engagement platform will allow eSports franchises to leverage their B2B platform as a service solution to eSports, allowing them to offer NFT membership plans.
  • The platform has already registered 10 teams and players so far, including INFINITY, Renegades, Team Empire and BOOM Esports, among others.

Yessports has launched a non-fungible token (NFT) based membership plan for eSports fans. The esports fan engagement platform unveiled its platform-as-a-service B2B solution on Thursday. The platform uses NFT technology which enables esports fans to make use of Web3.

NFT-based memberships are not new in the world of sports. They are popular in real-world sporting events such as football, where Socios continues to be the market leader.

In addition, individual football teams have also teamed up with Web3 platforms to launch their own NFT-based solutions that offer similar benefits to membership.

Most recently, Sorare teamed up with AC Milan in Serie A to add to that growing list of partnerships.

However, Yessports is targeting a rather unconventional segment of the sports industry. Esports has gained popularity over the past decade with teams adopting the franchise business model, which relies more on sponsorship than matchday revenue.

But given the massive growth in the industry, teams are now exploring ways to monetize the audience. That thought seems timely amid the rise of NFTs and their rapid mainstream adoption.

Yesports has already signed up 10 teams and players to its platform, including INFINITY, Renegades, Team Empire, BOOM Esports and others, which, according to the company’s announcement, can help more than 30 million esports fans on web3.

The company’s platform will enable teams to scale fan engagement using exclusive NFT-based membership plans, thereby increasing their revenue potential.

The platform has already received praise from its active members led by professional Southeast Asian esports organization Talon Esports and their Arena of Valor (RoV) team.

The franchises can offer their fans exclusive benefits, including the purchase of merchandise and NFTs, as well as a chance to interact with their favorite esports teams.

Other special benefits offered to members include “VIP access to eSports events, expenses-paid tours, exclusive NFT drops, signed merchandise, private discord access and AMAs, social media shout-outs and much more.”

Fans can choose their membership tier, which ranges from Gold, Platinum and Diamond, each offering different levels of access and benefits.

Sean Zhang, CEO and co-founder of Talon Esports, said: “Yessports has provided us with ready-made tools and a revolutionary framework to bring Web3 functionality to our audience, unlocking unparalleled engagement and direct-to-consumer benefits. NFT membership will help us with creating new revenue streams while strengthening existing ones and giving fans new ways to show support and loyalty.”

On the other hand, Sebastian Quinn, founder and CEO of Yessports commented: “NFT membership represents a ground-breaking development for eSports that has the potential to be a veritable game-changer for fan engagement and team revenue.”
