After a successful community campaign for the Numbers Testnet, we are excited to announce that the Numbers Mainnet is now LIVE! The Numbers Testnet launched on November 11, 2022 allows the Numbers Protocol to operate past its previous limitations and fully realize its vision of creating trusted media on the web.
A lot of effort has been put in behind the scenes to ensure that Numbers Mainnet launch can hit the ground running. Here are some of the community highlights:
- A total of three phases are hosted for the community to experience the future journey of Web3 resources
- Over 10,000 testers participate in the Numbers Testnet

A new chapter for the Numbers protocol
With billions of images and videos uploaded to the internet every day and an increasing number of individuals making a living from content creation, it has become increasingly important to know information such as who the creator is, what the license is, who owns the license and whether what you see is authentic or fake.
By seeing the whole picture of digital media, we can give credit where credit is due, and it also gives viewers the opportunity to make informed decisions. The Numbers Protocol is a digital media library and indexing system that aims to provide a more transparent view of digital media. It starts with Numbers ID (nid). Each piece of digital media registered with the Numbers Protocol is given a unique identifier that can be used to access digital media files on decentralized storage, as well as digital media information archived on the blockchain.
Prior to the launch of the Numbers Mainnet, the Numbers Protocol leveraged third-party blockchains to archive digital media content. Although they are effective in making digital media information accessible and verifiable, the limitations from the user’s perspective were clear. The Numbers Mainnet unlocks the Numbers Protocol and makes it possible to support the entire lifecycle of the modern digital asset.
To become the pillar of trust the digital media spaces need
Numbers Blockchain is a blockchain solution built with the Avalanche Subnet technology. As an Avalanche subnet, Numbers is Blockchain an independent blockchain which defines its own network, provides its own security, as well as its own execution logic and fee structure. By facilitating much of the Numbers Protocol’s core functionality, particularly the archiving of committed media history for Web3 resources, the Numbers Blockchain transforms digital assets from untraceable and unverifiable entities into stand-alone entities that are able to “speak” for themselves through accessible and transparent records. The Numbers Blockchain achieves this by generating a unique identity to the digital media, which is also known as the Content ID in the Filecoin/IPFS ecosystem. Key information such as creation metadata (location, timestamp, other data regarding creation circumstances), creator information, asset change logs and licenses are stored on the blockchain to ensure the integrity of the digital media.
Digital media online today is heavily scrutinized for out-of-context use, deep fake technology, and theft of digital assets. They sit quietly on the sidelines while parties with varying interests debate its validity and reliability in vain. Numbers Blockchain is shaking up the landscape of online digital media. Numerically registered digital media no longer have to rely on external factors, and can represent their own records and values independently of external factors.
