Two-time EMMY(R) Award-winning filmmaker Yuri Alves to direct Gala Films Blockchain TV series RZR (Razor)

RZR is the first blockchain TV series that paves the way for web3 cinema powered by community engagement through NFTs

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / November 30, 2022 / Planned release in 2023, RZR (Razor) is set to become one of the first ever live-action series released exclusively on the blockchain through Gala film, the latest expansion of the Gala entertainment company. Two-time EMMY® award-winning filmmaker Yuri Alves of DreamPlay Films is confirmed to direct episodes for the gritty sci-fi thriller that explores the chaos of a not-so-distant dystopian Los Angeles. The story of RZR – which stars and is executive produced by an actor and filmmaker David Bianchi – is steeped in neural implants, hacker culture and black market crime.

“I’m excited to collaborate with an incredible team of talented filmmakers, and help bring to life a unique vision that explores our relationship with technology and its effect on humanity,” says the DreamPlay Media founder.

DreamPlay Films is part of DreamPlay Media, a creative media company founded by brothers Yuri Alves and Igor Alves. DreamPlay has won over 20 film awards, including two EMMY® winners and four nominations earlier this year.

DreamPlay’s founder Yuri Alves won two EMMY® Awards for DreamPlay Films’ “Grind: The Robert Wilmote Story” and “Emerge: Concert Film Trilogy.” “Grind” is a format-bending profile of Liberian refugee Robert Wilmote, who succumbs to the gangster lifestyle in New Jersey after being forced to flee the war in Africa. Through dramatic reenactments featuring Robert Wilmote himself, Robert’s journey to transcend a life of violence and prison inspires millions and takes place in Alve’s hometown of Newark. The RZR director and DreamPlay founder won his second EMMY Award for “Emerge,” a concert film trilogy starring New Jersey Symphony Music Director Xian Zhang and featuring outstanding orchestral performances recorded live at NJPAC during the pandemic, fused with breathtaking visuals and dance sequences.

“I am thrilled to have won these EMMY Awards, not only on behalf of our films, but also on behalf of the crew and artists who collaborated with me,” says Alves. “For EMERGE, we aimed to ambitiously exceed the audience’s expectations of a filmed orchestral performance – in these films we really see Xian, the orchestra and the special guests at their best and from unique vantage points. For GRIND, I knew that Robert had an incredible life story to share and that he was the best person to play in it – he’s a phenomenon. I think people will be thrilled and surprised by both this trilogy and the documentary.”

DreamPlay Media will hold a Red Carpet Screening and EMMY Awards Celebration on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at CityPlex12 Newark Theatre’s SHAQ-DX Auditorium at 18.00. The event will feature “Emerge” and “Grind” in collaboration with Plusable and the New Jersey Symphony. Both films are directed by DreamPlay founder Yuri Alves.
