The Wyoming Blockchain Stampede celebrates its fifth anniversary on the 19th-23rd.  September |  News

Caitlin Long, founder of Custodia Bank in Cheyenne, will speak about digital assets and banking during Wyoming Blockchain Stampede 2022, 19-23. September, at the University of Wyoming Conference Center in Laramie. Long is a 1990 UW graduate and was named College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Alumnus in 2019.

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, the 2022 Wyoming Blockchain Stampede will be held on the 19th-23rd. September at the University of Wyoming Conference Center in Laramie. Registration for the free event is open at www.wyohackathon.io.

The Stampede, sponsored by the UW Center for Blockchain and Digital Innovation (CBDI), features speaker panels and events exploring the next generation of digital assists; blockchain-related startups; educational programs; economic and regulatory issues; digital identity; state and federal legislation; and cyber security and digital identity.

“Since the inception of Stampede, industry leaders from around the world have attended the event and highlighted the opportunities, challenges and latest developments in blockchain, digital assets and cryptocurrency,” said CBDI Director Steve Lupien. “This year, we plan to examine, in more depth, the impact of digital assets on Wyoming through legislation, economic development and education from K-12 to community colleges and the UW.”

The 2022 WyoHackathon kicks off ahead of the Stampede on Friday the 9th. September. It will be online, with winners announced at the end of the Stampede. Lupien says the length of this year’s competition will provide more participants from the UW and around the world, and more time for them to face challenges for rewards offered by blockchain-related businesses.

This year’s event includes the annual Wyoming Cybersecurity Conference presented by the nonprofit CyberWyoming Alliance (CWA) on Friday, May 23. September. Partnering with Stampede is an opportunity to provide important cybersecurity information to those involved with digital assets and highlight what Wyoming is doing to address cybersecurity challenges,” said Laura Baker, CWA Co-Founder and Executive Director.

“The theme of this year’s conference is ‘It’s About Identity,'” says Baker. “The conference is designed for average citizens interested in online identity and civility, managing your digital identity and community safety identities. We have a great lineup of speakers, from a panel of lawyers discussing digital identity to using cyber psychology to better manage your business for digital investigation of identity theft.”

Featured keynote speakers include UW graduate Caitlin Long, nationally known crypto expert and founder and CEO of Custodia Bank, and U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., co-sponsor of a bill to clarify the governance of digital assets at the federal level. More speakers will be announced soon.

The Stampede also includes an IMPACT 307 startup pitch competition sponsored by Blue Ocean; a WyoHackathon winner presentation; and a concert on the evening of Sept. 23 by western music star Chancey Williams, a UW graduate from Moorcroft.
