The Burrow South Asian Collective | NFT CULTURE | NFTs and crypto art

The Burrow is a South Asian artist collective, formed with a mission to help bring new artists into the spotlight and add value to the community through theme-based curated drops such as Pluralize.

The Burrow is a South Asian artist collective with a mission to make new artists visible in the NFT room. Our goal is to put the spotlight on new artists and add value to the community through theme-based curated drops such as Pluralizeand initiative such as Burrow Art Fundwhere smart contracts and minting dApps are either fully sponsored or subsidized by the collective every month.

With Pluralize, our goal was to show that diversity of thoughts, processes and techniques can all come together to tell similar stories in their own unique way. This series of NFTs aims to “pluralize” the same idea or message with different genres in photography and art styles.

What is the launch date of the project?

  • July 14: Collector’s Mint
  • July 15: Permission list coin
  • July 16: Public Mint

How did you come up with the idea?

The idea of a collective drop stems from the reflection that despite appearing every day, South Asian photographers did not receive the same recognition for their work as their colleagues from other parts of the world. In addition, there was a need for equal competition conditions so that both established and emerging artists had equal chances of getting their work together. With these in mind, 30+ photographer friends who were in the room from early to mid-2021, and supported each other, decided to work together and form The Burrow.

What makes this project unique?

Pluralize by the Burrow was the first themed 1/1 NFT collection of photographers across 12 genres. What makes the second drop unique is that 100 artists share their interpretation of what Break means for them across several genres in photography and 2D art. The last 100 are carefully curated by well-known artists, so that it does not compromise on the quality or context of the theme. The mechanism for delayed disclosure ensures that the popular artists, as well as the emerging artists, have an equal chance of getting their art together.

How was the response to The Burrows’ first release?

The Burrow’s genesis drop (Pluralize – Rising Hope) was very well received. The collection of 40 1/1 images was sold out in less than 35 minutes, with 2.7 ETH in secondary sales and was widely supported by collectors such as DeezeFi, Punk 2070, Snow.eth, Blockboob, Cyborgnomad, AlphaTrilogy, etc.

What benefits did the collectors get from the first drop?

Coffee Table Books: We raffled off 5 Coffee Table Books in a limited edition, which contains all 40 photographs from the Genesis collection, to Pluralize Holders. Physical books will be sent soon.

Airdrops: Featured artists, part of the second release, from The Burrow airdropped photos to Pluralize Holders. This ensured that collectors discovered new artists, even outside the drop, when they are part of The Burrow. This discovery resulted in collectors collecting several images from these artists.
