Thailand drops the second season of its NFT campaign

While most governments are reluctant to explore non-fungible tokens, Thailand is keen to exploit its potential to offer added value to its tourists. The government arm responsible for tourism in the Asian nation, it Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), recently launched the second season of its ‘Amazing Thailand’ NFTs offering various benefits to visitors to the country.

In total, there are 24,000 tokens that can be collected at 20 different tourist attractions spread over five regions. Now, those visiting the vibrant country have until April 30 to collect free NFTs that will offer various benefits while touring the country. As such, avid collectors can expect to access discounts on airline tickets, hotels, department stores, supermarkets, restaurants, car rental services, along with many other privileges.

How to access amazing Thailand NFTs

The NFTs can be collected by downloading the YAKS app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Tourists can then proceed to any of the listed collection points and claim their free NFT by scanning a QR code, which sends the collectible directly to their digital wallet. Each unique NFT features a Polaroid image of its designated tourist attraction and comes in either a “normal” or “rare” edition that includes its own individual perks.

As mentioned earlier, the NFTs can be claimed from 20 locations located in five key regions: North, Northeast, South, East and Central. The specific attraction locations where these NFTs are scattered can be found on TAT’s website.

This is the second time the tourism sector has launched Amazing Thailand NFTs meant to encourage visitors to the country. The first season took place last November, when 17,118 NFTs were claimed and used by tourists to access various privileges.
