Suspicion, theft by deception: Chagrin Boulevard
Beachwood police notified officers in Orange at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 19 that they were out at the BP gas station and Uni-Mart at Chagrin and Richmond Road to investigate suspicious activity involving a man at the Bitcoin machine, available for digital and cryptocurrency conversion .
Officers added that the suspect happened to be an employee at the Shell True North gas station just east on Chagrin in Orange.
Officers from both departments then went to Orange Shell True North — listed on the initial report as the victim, with a loss or stolen amount of $2,840 in cash — to meet with the employee in question and gather information for a subsequent report, with no further details available at that time.

A patrol officer clocked a 2007 Chevy Impala going 43 mph in a 25 mph zone at 11:20 a.m. Oct. 23 and followed the car into the Shell True North gas station while the two residents parked at a pump and tried to rush into the store. .
Police then determined that the temporary tag displayed on the Impala belonged to a 2011 Honda Pilot, as well as the fact that neither the driver nor the passenger had a valid driver’s license.
The passenger, a Cleveland man, 24, had two active warrants from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated assault with a weapon and later admitted that a Smith & Wesson handgun loaded with nine rounds and found under the passenger seat was his.
He could face additional charges pending lab results for 3 grams of an as yet unknown substance tied up in a bag and found on his person, along with a digital scale. He was taken to the Cuyahoga County Jail.
The driver, a Cleveland man, 25, was issued three citations and the car was towed.

Police were alerted to an Enterprise rental car listed as stolen from Cleveland that was eastbound on Chagrin Boulevard at 4:25 p.m. on Oct. 23.
They caught up with the 2021 Nissan Sentra a short time later at the Woodmere Speedway gas station and found that the driver, a North Ridgeville woman, 27, had a misdemeanor warrant issued in her own city, for which the police department placed a hold. .

Police were alerted to an orange 2022 Chevy Silverado driving through the village at 7:24 p.m. Oct. 22, whose owner had an active felony warrant with the county for a weapons offense, as well as a suspended license from a previous impaired driving violation.
Police soon found the pickup in the lot at Pinecrest, where the driver and suspect, a 39-year-old Cleveland Heights man, said he had a work-related license but admitted he was out that night attending a birthday party – contradicting that. of court-issued driving licences.
The truck was impounded and he was transported to the county jail.

Police responded to a report of a man sleeping in a 2020 Dodge Charger at the Shell True North station just before 8 p.m. on Oct. 23 and arrived to find the engine still running.
The police woke him up and asked him to turn off the car. When asked where he was going, he pointed to the Extended Stay North motel across the street.
The Moran, Wyo., man, 63, said he had a beer with his daughter and three on the golf course, but later registered a .192 blood-alcohol content on the Breathalyzer, more than twice the legal limit of .08 BAC.
