Revealing the UK’s FinTech 50 for 2022

BusinessCloud can reveal its FinTech 50 innovation ranking for 2022.

Readers of the online technology publication and an independent panel of judges have together determined the 50 companies that are cutting a technological path in finance.

The FinTech 50 celebrates companies of all sizes creating original technology for payments and the financial industry.

London-headquartered Keebo, a new entry that has created acRedit card and app to help people move on to the credit ladder, tops the ranking. It aims to “jumpstart the future”. freelancers, creators, entrepreneurs and young people.

Snoop, who is based in Norwich and London, is number two. Led by former Virgin Money boss Dame Jayne-Anne Gadhia, it helps people spend, save and live smarter through data-driven, personalized money-saving suggestions known as ‘Snoops’.

London-with headquarters Ordo, a company behind real-time bank transfers and invoice tracking, is third. Ordo takes the hassle out of collecting payments via its encrypted payment request, resulting in reduced costs, instant funds transfer, automatically reconciled payments and improved invoice security.

Tumelo, based in Bristol, is fourth ahead of London’s Fidel API. The former is a pioneering impact-focused financial technology company with a vision: by 2030, every investor will have a shareholder’s vote.

On the seventh, behind GoCardless, is wi-Q. The Manchester start-up has built a cloud-based mobile ordering solution for restaurants and hotels: without an app to download, customers can instantly order and pay by scanning a QR code or entering a URL.

One Utility Bill, Contis and Wealthify round out the top 10.

BankiFi, based in Manchester, is in 11th place. The company’s technology platform aims to put banks at the heart of the business by adding FinTech capabilities and versatility – including accounting, invoicing and payments – to the traditional players’ list of services.

Wealth Wizards, based in Leamington Spa, is number 13. The company was founded in 2009 with the aim of making expert financial advice affordable and accessible to everyone.

Other businesses to feature are core banking technology firm Thought Machine (London); micro investment platform Wombat (London); CrowdX (Glasgow), which aims to be like a public market for private companies; and intelligent discount management solution e-bate (Leicester).

BusinessCloud encouraged its readers to vote for companies from the 169-strong phortlist and saw around 1,700 votes pour in.

A combination of these votes and the selections from an independent panel of judges decided the top 50.

Ours InsurTech 50 and RegTech 50 rankings were decided alongside FinTech 50 and celebrate companies creating technology for the insurance industry and compliance, respectively.
