Hollywood actor and comedian Jim Carrey has just debuted his latest NFT on the SuperRare platform.

The artwork still has no owner

The latest multimedia work is called ‘Goon In Moonlight’, which depicts a creature avoiding the moonlight while the artist reads a poem about loneliness and lost love. Big Head Club co-produced the digital animation, with vocals by Carrey’s daughter Jane.

According to the description on the SuperRare platform, the artwork is:

“In the inescapable romance of moonlight, the goon is doomed to recoil from memories of lost loves and the pangs of regret that can transform any of us into something abominable in our own minds.”

The 48-hour auction started on 9 August and ended on 11 August. The artwork was configured for a Reserve auction. This means that there is a minimum price that a seller will be willing to accept from a buyer. It appears that the reserve price was not met, as the artwork on the SuperRare platform still belongs to Carrey at the time of writing.

Not the first NFT creation

‘Goon In The Moonlight’ is not the first piece of NFT artwork introduced by Carrey. His first experiment in the NFT world was the piece called ‘Sunshower’, which sold for 62.04 ETH.

The NFT, titled ‘Sunflower’, is based on the actor’s painting and is accompanied by an original voice-over, which was produced by filmmaker David Bushell.

The actor announced his first NFT creation via Twitter (NYSE:):

“I have been both blessed and cursed in this life with a vivid imagination and a burning desire to share my quirks and inspirations with you.”

Enter the world of visual arts

Throughout Trump’s presidency, Carrey regularly created political cartoons, which he would post on Twitter. Over 100 of these works were exhibited in 2018 at the Maccarone Gallery in Los Angeles.

“I had just started experimenting with bringing my art to life through simple animations when the world of NFT opened up. For me, there could never be enough new places to create, Carrey said.

Carrey reveals that he started painting in 2011 as a “way to heal a broken heart.” His work and process was featured in a short 2017 documentary, “I Needed Color”.

“I think what makes someone an artist is that they make models of their inner life. They bring something into physical existence that is inspired by their feelings or their needs or what they feel the audience needs,” Carrey says in the film.

On the other side

Jim Carrey is just one of many successful actors involved in the NFT space. In January, fellow actor Johnny Depp released 11,111 NFT portraits titled “Never Fear Truth.”
