Gary’s career began in 1987 trading energy commodities at the Natural Gas Clearinghouse. The company experienced rapid growth, eventually becoming a dominant force in reshaping the natural gas sector in the US before going public. Gary played a pivotal role, personally overseeing over 30% of the natural gas acquisitions for the Western United States and importing huge amounts of natural gas from Canada.
Later, Gary asked for a mission in Europe and believed he could replicate the reformation of power and natural gas across Europe. He was entrusted with establishing the company’s European division, eventually becoming one of the youngest CEOs of a Fortune 50 company ever. Cardone worked closely with regulators, OFGEM, Ofgas and industry leaders to reshape, reform and restructure the way energy traded in Europe.
After retiring to the US at 42 from the energy sector, Gary ventured into e-commerce. He quickly discovered a critical need among e-commerce sellers for support in dealing with online fraud and payment disputes. He found that there is a huge amount of violations and friction disguised as fraud, but are actually symptoms of a broken payment system. In response, in 2011 Gary co-founded Chargebacks911®, launching the first-ever global brand dedicated to helping online merchants and their banks manage chargebacks, recover revenue and mitigate risk.
