Flutterwave supports the fintech summit

Nigerian fintech, Flutterwave, has been announced as the main sponsor of the Africa Fintech Summit 2023 to be held in Washington DC on April 12, 2023, and in an African city to be announced later in the year.

According to a statement from the company, the sponsorship comes in the wake of Flutterwave’s latest licenses issued in Egypt, enabling the firm to be an official payment service provider in Egypt and expand its presence in MENA.

The statement added that since its inception in 2016, the Flutterwave team has been on a mission to create endless opportunities for customers and businesses in Africa and emerging markets, so far processing over 400 million transactions worth over $25 billion to date across 34 countries in Africa.

The company said last year it made one of its biggest expansions, and currently serves over 1,000,000 businesses worldwide.

Flutterwave’s founder and CEO, Olugbenga Agboola, said the technology company was delighted to be the main sponsor of this year’s AFTS event.

He said: “We believe that the AFTS network has been instrumental in developing and shaping the fintech industry in Africa and Flutterwave has been an active enabler of ecosystem growth.

“We are always enthusiastic to work with the Africa Fintech Summit team to engage stakeholders and partners who help us create endless opportunities. We are excited about all this opportunity brings as we continue on our vision to connect African countries through payments.”

Co-founder of AFTS and CEO of Ibex Frontier, Zekarias Amsalu, said: “It is with immense gratitude and great pleasure that we welcome Flutterwave back as our lead fintech sponsor for both our summits in April and November this year.

Since its first summit in 2018, the Africa Fintech Summit has become one of the largest bi-annual fintech gatherings in Africa.

In addition to Flutterwave’s sponsorship, AFTS will be supported by a diverse group of partners and sponsors.

The ninth edition of AFTS will focus on fintech regulatory practices, diaspora banking and remittances, African fintech expansion globally, cross-border payment movements and decentralized finance use cases.

It will also focus on fintech financing trends, cross-border payments under the AfCFTA, US-Africa technology connections and several other spotlight topics.
