Here are some recent developments from the crypto world

France’s National Museum of Modern Art at the Center Pompidou in Paris plans to host an exhibition to showcase the relationship between art and blockchain, bringing the NFTs to the center of the Parisian art scene.

The exhibition on February 10 will feature NFTs from CryptoPunks and Autoglyphs projects and works by 12 other digital artists. CryptoPunks is an NFT collection minted on the Ethereum blockchain. Each of the 10,000 “punks” is a 24×24-pixel photo, one of crypto’s most dominant and enduringly popular profile pictures, a new form of asset tokenization, organizers said.

Autoglyphs, on the other hand, are much rarer. The Ethereum-based generative art project from Larva Labs, the creators of CryptoPunks, has only 512 NFTs. The cheapest Autoglyph token is worth 249 ETH, or over $377,000.

It is the first time NFTs have been accepted into the Center Pompidou’s collection, which includes masterpieces by Vassily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse and Frida Kahlo. The Center Pompidou is the largest modern art museum in Europe.

Reddit is giving away millions of Super Bowl NFTs at Polygon

As a testament to Web3’s popularity, discussion platform Reddit has distributed millions of free NFTs through its Collectible Avatars project. The new partnership with the NFL for free Super Bowl NFTs helped Reddit reach another major milestone.

About 1.3 million of the official Super Bowl LVII NFT avatars have been minted since Monday’s launch, including more than 500,000 on Tuesday alone, Decrypt reported. Users have now minted nearly 10 million of Reddit’s Collectible Avatar NFTs to date, according to public blockchain data available on Dune, currently topping 9.7 million in total.

The Super Bowl avatars were offered free to all Reddit users, who can claim one of four unique avatar styles — including those for the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles — through the Reddit platform at no charge. Reddit’s Collectible Avatars are minted on Polygon, an Ethereum sidechain network that enables cheaper, faster transactions. Because they’re free avatars, Reddit’s Super Bowl NFTs don’t generate much trade.

Many Web3 advocates, like Reddit’s NFT program, give people easy access to the space. You can access it with the click of a button; you can choose an avatar from a collection, or choose a password for the newly created wallet, and you’re done. The avatars can optionally be transferred to an external wallet and then traded.

Reportedly, over 6.6 million unique wallets now feature Reddit’s Polygon avatars, including around 500,000 new wallets created this week during the Super Bowl promotion.
