‘Dookey Dash’ Golden Key NFT fetches a whopping 1000 ETH

Kyle ‘Mongraal’ Jackson, an eSports competitor, turned down two generous offers for his Boring Monkey ‘Dookey Dash’ key NFT and has made a sale to businessman Adam Weitsman.

Adam Weitsman bought NFT for 1000 ETH ~($1.62 million). That’s a significant discount from the seller’s original asking price of 3,333 ETH – an eye-watering $5.39 million.

Mongraal ‘Excited’ on the NFT sale

Regarding the sale, Mongraal noted, “Super nice guy [Adam Weitsman] and thrilled that the sale went through with him.”

Mongraal officially rejected UpDAO’s bid of 690 ETH or $1.1 million for the Golden Key earlier this week. Jackson tweeted that he would accept the offer if UpDAO doubled the bid.

Another offer from Memeland came in at 999 WETH. Memeland is a web3 venture studio from the 9GAG team. It had been the highest bidder at the time before Mongraal let it go to Weitsman

Mongraal also stated, “A special thanks to Yuga Labs for hosting an incredible competition. I look forward to competing in future events.” He pledged that he would settle the entire royalty.

Yuga Labs reportedly charges a 5% royalty on sales, which comes to 50 ETH. Yuga Labs has made it clear several times that the NFT ecosystem must respect royalties to creators.

The Bored Ape parent has previously blocked marketplaces that failed to comply. In 2022, the platform’s royalty collection from BAYC and other top NFTs so to have passed $107.8 million.

That being said, the skill-based coin-op game ‘Dookey Dash’ is getting ready for Season 2.

BAYC recently introduced Toad Mode, a short-lived Dookey Dash adventure. Users require a sewer pass to play the game. According to the official description, sewer passes could only be claimed by BAYC and MAYC holders.

It noted: “If you didn’t have a BAYC or MAYC NFT, you couldn’t claim a sewer pass, but you could get one on the secondary market or access one through heat wallet delegation.”
