BMO announces executive appointment – Fintech Finance

BMO today announced the appointment of Darrel Hackett as US CEO of BMO Financial Group, President and CEO of BMO Harris Bank NA, and CEO of BMO’s US holding company, BMO Financial Corp. (BFC). Mr. Hackett will report to CEO Darryl White, join the bank’s executive committee, and will chair the US management committee. His appointment will take effect on 1 June 2023.

He joined BMO in 2004, among several leadership roles at BMO and in the community, and has served BMO’s clients as head of the bank’s US Business Banking group, as head of the bank’s North American Integrated Channels team, and most recently as president of BMO Wealth Management – ​​USA, leading a team of wealth management experts across the country.

Mr. Hackett’s appointment follows the announcement of the retirement of Dave Casper, US CEO, BMO Financial Group. Casper joined BMO with the bank’s acquisition of Harris Bank in 1984, leading BMO’s US commercial banking business since 2010, BMO’s North American commercial banking business since 2015, and has served as US managing director since 2018.

“Dave’s leadership has been instrumental in BMO’s growth, particularly in the United States, as we have supported the growth aspirations of our clients and contributed to a thriving economy in the communities we serve,” continued Mr. White. “Dave’s commitment to the home of BMO’s US headquarters, the City of Chicago, is legendary. Under Dave’s leadership of BMO’s commercial banking operations, BMO has grown to become a top 5 commercial lender in North America, and Dave played a key role in our recent acquisition of Bank of the West.

After Mr. Casper’s retirement, the board of BFC has appointed Mr. Casper to act as chairman. In the summer of 2023, Casper will succeed John Rau, who has served with distinction as chairman since 2017 and as a board member since 2008.
