Blockchain Association Singapore attracts 8,542 participants from 68 countries to Singapore Blockchain Week 2022

SINGAPORE, 2 August 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Singapore Blockchain Week (SGBCW) 2022 concluded with a fireside chat with Hestor Peirce, SEC Commissioner. Peirce suggested that responsible regulation involved clear rules and consistent enforcement and promoted responsible innovation. Robust international regulatory cooperation within digital assets is an important part of building and maintaining an effective regulatory framework. The aim is to tackle bad actors, while well-intentioned innovators can focus on delivering on the product’s promise and purpose.

The five-day event attracted 8,542 participants from 68 countries and over 700 organizations, including 36 exhibitors and 156 speakers. The week-long series of events included a web3 hackathon co-organized between Blockchain Association Singapore, Morpheus Labs and Huawei Cloud; SGBCW 2022 Summit, the main focus which attracted 5440 participants; two master classes; two Innovation Lab Showcases and a career fair organized jointly by BAS, Banking and Financial Services Unit, NTUC; e2i, and the Global Financial Institute and other fringe events for BAS Corporate and Individual Members.

MR Chia Hock Laicommented co-chairman of BAS during his opening speech at the SGBCW 2022 Summit at web3 the industry will recover strongly from the crypto winter, driven by big brands doing web3 and large investments raised to invest in web3 projects. The Blockchain For Good campaign is a joint initiative between BAS and the NTUC-U Care Fund which aims to support where the proceeds will go to support the charity’s various aid programmes.
