Benriach launches two whiskey expressions as NFTs
For the first time, Benriach Distillery recently announced that it will blend the physical and digital worlds of whiskey with two new expressions launched solely as non-fungible tokens (NFT).
A statement from Benriach notes that the launch is billed as a “luxury twin set” of two bottles, Benriach The Forty and Benriach The Forty Octave Cask Matured.
Benriach will make 10 twin sets available on BlockBar.com, the direct-to-consumer NFT marketplace for luxury wines and spirits.

Together with the digital NFT which entitles them to acquire both bottles, and a certificate of authenticity from BlockBar, from 1 December, NFT holders will receive an invitation to an exclusive event at Benriach’s Speyside distillery, where they will meet the creative team of whisky. manufacturers in Benriach.
Rachel Barrie, Benriach’s master blender, said: “These fine bourbon casks have gradually developed exquisite notes of honeyed pomelo and lush orchards to create Benriach The Forty, one of the oldest peated whiskeys ever released from Speyside.”
She said that over the decades of maturation, the smoky Benriach spirit has refined and mellowed, bringing out the ripe fruit sweetness. This character has dark tones of chocolate, plum and walnut from the port casks sourced from the Douro Valley in Portugal.
“Benriach The Forty Octave Cask Matured … was ingeniously aged in small octave casks, which are one-eighth the size of a regular cask,” Barrie said. “These casks were crafted from the staves of American bourbon oak casks, rich with indulgent orchard and dark fruit and a flawless silky oak finish. It’s a testament to our history of creativity in cask exploration.”
The twin set includes custom packaging and will be safely stored by BlockBar until redeemed. Buyers can also trade NFT on the BlockBar marketplace, store it in their virtual bar or give it through BlockBar’s new gifting platform.

The NFTs are available now on a first-come, first-served basis. Initially priced at $8,000, each NFT is available for purchase with ETH or credit card.
