Bang & Olufsen has launched its first NFT collection

Do you need world-class sound for your Metaversal home? Well, look no further. Bang & Olufsen brings its Danish design standards into the digital realm with its first NFT collection.

Dubbed the “DNA Collection”, Bang & Olufsen’s version of NFTs boasts a design as advanced as the physical product offering. While you’ll struggle to indulge in the audio expertise through ownership of one, you’ll certainly get a sense of what the brand, its history, story and design language is all about.

As the name suggests, this selection of NFTs is an introspective look at all things B&O; in particular, it has taken a microscope to its flagship products and filtered them through a digital lens, masterfully representing craftsmanship and performance through art.

While the collection is a great project aesthetically, with B&O as an audio label, it begs the question, why?

Well, SVP, Head of Business Development & Brand Collaborations, Christoffer Østergaard Poulsen shared the following insight with Highsnobiety: “From collaborating with Balenciaga earlier this year on a speaker-handbag hybrid, to entering the Metaverse with the DNA collection, we walk the line to respect our heritage while evolving for the future and the changing digital landscape.

This venture into Metaverse allows us to expand our community of design and music lovers who want to be fascinated by thought-provoking projects and experiences, and put culture and innovation first. This is our first step into the Metaverse, and we’re excited to be part of the evolution as the creative economy and digital culture evolves.”

So, what’s included? Bang & Olufsen’s iconic Beogram 4000 record player, Beoplay A9 and Beolab 90 speakers take center stage. The project is combined with art and music from leading Web3 artists and musicians, bringing the collection full circle.

A total of 1,925 NFTs are available – a nod to the brand’s foundation years. The NFTs will be randomly generated based on a predefined distribution of products and product characteristics.

Each holder will then receive an Art Vial and Music Vial containing an artwork and music track which, when combined with the NFA via the Bang & Olufsen coin page, owners will receive a metaverse-ready 3D version of their NFTs.

As if that wasn’t enough, owners will get access to future drops and get the chance to buy a limited edition Beoplay A9 physical speaker. Really spoiled.
