Argentinian Freemasons to launch NFT collection on Ethereum
  • It is a philanthropic project that seeks to help charitable institutions.
  • The profits will be donated to these organizations in cryptocurrencies, through a transparent process, as promised by the organizers.
  • The collection includes the most important universal symbols of Freemasonry such as the compass, the square and the checkered floor.

The Argentine Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons announced the launch of its own collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT). The project, which goes by the name “CryptoMasons,” consists of 77 artworks tokenized in the network, according to the website Criptonoticias.

The collection will be available for sale on the OpenSea marketplace, where Storlogen has created a user profile. The aim of this project is to invest most of the profit in charity.

The institutions that will benefit from the sale of the NFTs will be the Bernardino Rivadavia Home and the Fundación Ciudadanos del Mundo in Buenos Aires, as well as the Ángel Cassanello Labor Training Center in the province of Santa Fe. The rest will be reinvested in the consolidation of the project.

The leader of the CryptoMasons project, known as Nano, and his closest collaborator Nicolás Clavaguera, gave details of this new aesthetic proposal for philanthropic purposes. This is the first NFT collection in the world linked to a Masonic lodge.

Collectable Masonic Symbols

The NFTs were created by seven graphic artists, including Almirante, Shawn Brennan, Harold Pérez Lamorú, MAB, León M. Saya (NASDAQ:), Masonic Humor and Naza. The design of the logo for the collection, called “The 77 blocks of the union chain,” is by Ian Eric Margulis.

The fact that 7 artists participate is not accidental, as this number has a special meaning for Masons. Universal symbols of Freemasonry are represented in the collection, such as the compass, the square, the checkered floor and other elements typical of this ancient international organization.

The exact release date of the Masonic NFT collection has not yet been defined. But the organizers point out that it will soon be released on the website and on CryptoMason’s social network.

They assure that it is a completely transparent philanthropic project that does not involve traditional cash (fiat). The Grand Lodge of Argentina, which promotes CryptoMasons, confirms that with this initiative it seeks to “raise philanthropy to a new and unprecedented scale in the institution’s history.”

“So you can see how we transfer the funds to philanthropic initiatives, and you can also see how with your purchases you contribute to improving the lives of other people,” and the donations will be published on the website of the Masonic lodge, organizers and said the initiators of the project. Additionally, all transactions will be recorded on the Ethereum blockchain where the NFTs were created. To receive the collected cryptocurrencies that will be donated, the recipient institutions must have digital wallets, Nano explained.

For example, Hogar Bernardino Rivadavia already has an account opened on the crypto exchange FTX. Donations are likely to be made via stablecoins, and recipients must then report the investment of the funds received.

On the other side

  • Argentine Freemasonry is trying to educate the population about the use of (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies.
  • Argentina is one of the countries with the highest adoption of digital money in the world, and schools are learning about the benefits of blockchain.

Why you should care

  • Modern Freemasonry, whose name can be translated as “masonry”, is a semi-secret organization founded in London in the 18th century.
  • It is an institution “dedicated to the moral and intellectual improvement of men.” It is based on the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity, under the slogan “Science, justice and work.”
  • Influential universal men such as Napoléon Bonaparte, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Voltaire, Mozart, Winston Churchill, among others, have belonged to it.

Argentine Freemasonry has been rooted in the broadest areas of politics, science and culture for more than 200 years. The aim is “to contribute to the development of a fairer, more just and more inclusive society”, confirms Nanoy Nicolás Clavaguera.

They say that blockchain technology can serve as a very important tool to achieve these goals. With this purpose, they have created a new lodge called the Columns of the Future, which intends to promote this type of initiative for laymen or non-Masons and for members of the Order.
